Haunted Forest Campout load out at Mr. C’s house

Good afternoon Troop 3 Family,

As you are aware, Haunted Forest is this weekend, and although we Scout are going to be working there, it is also a FUN campout.

One of the jobs that Troop 3 has been given is Traffic Control in the parking lot across the highway from Camp Tonkawa. As a result, some Troop 3 members will need to arrive early. Those who volunteered for this duty are Asa, Able, Chris, and Ben. They are designated as Flight A and will need to arrive at my house beginning at 4:15 pm on Friday. We will load our gear into the trailer and depart for Tonkawa at 4:30 pm, and drive there in my van, as we have to be there when the parking area opens. Mike Durham has provided orange vests & hats for safety. A burger & fries will be provided by Camp Ranger Bobby Goodson for your supper.

The other members of Troop 3(Flight B), should eat at home. Then arrive at my house at 6 pm to load your gear into the trailer. I will have already loaded ice into coolers and packed them in the trailer. I will load the First Aid kit also. Mike Durham will tow the trailer to Tonkawa. We will camp in either Lakota or Pima Campsite. We should try to get Lakota, as it is easier to get the trailer in and out. Regardless of which campsite, we will probably be camping with another troop, so pick one side of the camp, preferably near the gate.

When Flight B gets to camp, go ahead and set up your tents, plus one of the stoves and chuck boxes. Depending on how this works out, it may be necessary for Flight B to put up tents for Flight A.

Please bring a fun Halloween costume, and let’s make this fun for us and for the Cub Scouts. Bring insect repellent, as the mosquitos will be trying to get that last gallon of our blood before Winter sets in.

We will be given tasks to do throughout the weekend, but like always we will make it fun for us too!!
