Unlike many Boy Scout Troops and other youth organizations, Troop 3 does not have a bunch of fundraisers, selling chocolate, manure, Christmas trees, and other items, throughout the year to fund our activities. Instead we have one, ongoing fundraiser through out the year.

FLAG SUBSCRIPTION PROGRAM

Our “Flag Subscription Program” is an ongoing (since 2004) program to sell the placement of American Flags in a supporters yard, eight times a year. The suscriber gets a nice, large (3×5 flag on a 9 foot pole), American Flag, placed in their yard, and they do not have to do anything, except enjoy it.

The Flag does not have to placed in your front yard, it can be placed at your place of business, a friend or family members house, or at your place of worship.

While we strive to be able to accommodate every request for a Flag, due to logistical constraints some areas of Abilene may not be covered, and for people in those areas we apologize in advance.    We are unable to service any area outside the Abilene city limits.

PLACEMENT DAYS

Our current placement days are:

Presidents Day (third Monday of February)
Armed Forces Day (third Saturday in May)
Memorial Day (last Monday of May)
Flag Day (6/14)
Independence Day (7/4)
Patriots Day (9/11)
Veterans Day (11/11)
Pearl Harbor Day (12/7)

WHAT DOES IT COST

The annual cost of our program is only $50.00, paid in advance. If at any time you decide that you do not want to continue with the program, your money will be refunded at a prorated rate of $6.00 for each of the remaining placements on your subscription.

This ongoing funding program allows our Scouts and Troop to have the type of high quality, active, high adventure Scouting program that many Troops are unable to afford. It also allows us to keep the individual costs down, so more boys may become Scouts.
